St Augustine Pirate Day Weekend Is Back

pirate “International Talk Like a Pirate Day” (Saturday the 19th) always turns out to be an entire weekend of fun in the Oldest City!

The two-day event starts on Friday evening, September 18th with a family dinner and pirate shenanigans!

Saturday features an afternoon family treasure hunt that starts and ends at the courtyard of the St. Augustine Pirate an Treasure Museum on the bay front. Games and pirate activities will be available for all participants.

A poker run and dinner will take place on Saturday evening, capping the weekend with mini-gold pirate journey with kids and pirates paired off on Sunday with an afternoon brunch and then its farewell ’til next year!

As posted on their official Facebook page

The Saint Augustine Pirate and Treasure Museum is always abuzz on “Talk Like A Pirate Day” – and this year is no exception! The international event takes place in the museum’s courtyard Saturday –  It’s a fun way to learn the history of piracy and to inhabit the life of a pirate, even if just for one day!

St. Augustine Swashbucklers invite folks to come on down and play pirate games, meet pirates, hear pirate music, greet a few pirate authors and have a rousing good time.

There’s also the Great Pirate Treasure Hunt through the oldest city from 11AM – 4 PM. Participants can start their hunt anytime, beginning at 11AM – but must be done by 4PM. Kids and their grownups will begin the search in the Pirate Museums courtyard. Treasure Hunters must sign up and receive a map, pirate flag, and coin pouch – then are instructed to follow the map throughout the historic district, collecting coins and stickers from 16 locations along the way – ending up back at the Pirate Museum to claim their reward.

ALL courtyard activities, and the treasure hunt, are free to the public. Their annual GRAND PHOTO SHOOT, showing the museum courtyard filled with Pirates, will take place at 1PM Saturday. Come one, come all – come out on September 19th and Talk Like A Pirate!
