St Augustine Fountain of Youth Hosts Fun Fest

The St Augustine Fountain of Youth is said to be the oldest attraction in the state of Florida. Dating back to the year 1513 and the original founding site of the state of Florida, this is where it all began! As you check out the video above shared from their website, imagine the very beginning – an early Indian settlement discovered upon by Spanish Explorer Ponce de Leon – a place of vibrancy and youth, peace and beauty.

The beautiful site is like stepping back in time into textbook history!

Many events take place each year on the property aside from the everyday park admission and schedule of shows. These include live Cherokee Demonstrations, cannon firings and weapon demonstrations, The First Thanksgiving Reenactment, actual archaeological excavations and much more!

The park will again host the 2015 Maritime Fun Fest this year from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.  on Saturday and 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 14th and 15th.

This year’s festival will showcase the St. Augustine Maritime Heritage Foundation’s boatyard, complete with hands-on maritime activities and our newly christened, 16th century utility work boat called the San Agustin.  Events include the Quick and Dirty Boat Building Competition and Race, the Bar-tending Rum Challenge, educational exhibits, craft vendors, book signings, lecturers, a beer and wine tent, the Astillero de Perro Dog Agility Contest, a Maritime Pup Parade and children’s maritime education corner with hands-on activities.

Saturday Evening is the Evening at the Fountain Fine Food Faire Party with delicious food from the St. Augustine Independent Restaurant Association, music by The Coconuts and a presentation by Dr. Roger Smith.  Tickets for the Food Faire Party are $20 each.

Daily admission to the event includes entry to the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park and is $15 Adults, $14 seniors (60+), $9 Children 6 – 12, Under 5 free. Proceeds from the festival support the Foundation’s Maritime Heritage Scholarship Fund.
