5th Annual St. Augustine Celtic Music and Heritage Festival

The sounds of the ancient Celtic peoples of Scotland and Ireland come alive at Francis Field on Castillo Drive. Celtic clans from around the world show their ancestral pride. Highland games athletes demonstrate their mind-boggling strength. At 10 a.m. on Saturday, the St. Patrick's Day Parade marches through the streets of the Oldest City's Historic District. Vendors offer up Celtic cuisine and hand-made crafts. Scottish and Irish bands playing both traditional tunes and modernized renditions of the ancient Celtic music appear live on stage throughout the two-day festival - including Albannach, Rathkeltair, Searson, and the Dublin City Ramblers -- "Ireland's Number 1 Best Ballad and Folk Group of the Year." This lineup is arguably the best collaboration of Celtic artists assembled in the United States. Festival hours are Friday, 7 - 9 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m. - 9 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 general admission or VIP tickets $55 each. 29 W. Festival of the Chariots and Ratha Yatra Parade

The Festival of Chariots begins at 10:30 a.m. - noon with a parade in downtown that starts and ends at the Plaza de la Constitucion. From Noon - 2 p.m. there will be and chanting on St. George Street. In addition to the colorful parade, the festival will feature Indian food and a cultural program including a short theatrical production, professional Indian dancers and Indian music from 2 - 3:30 p.m. St. George St., St. Augustine

Second Annual Commemoration of the Founding of Fort Mose

Celebrate the March of 1738 official sanction of Fort Mose and the emancipation of Francisco Menendez and his Spanish militia by Governor Manuel de Montiano. Living history programs and weapons demonstrations take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Re-enactment from 1 - 2 p.m. of Governor Montiano founding the village and fort of Mose. From 2 - 3 p.m. Dr. Anthony E. Dixon, President of Archival and Historical Research will present a lecture entitled "The African Diaspora in Florida". From 3 - 4 p.m. A MiddlePassage Remembrance Ceremony will be conducted by Ms. Ann Chin. The heritage events are free. Castillo by Candlelight: Sisters and Survivors -- The Women of St. Augustine

Commemorate the 450 years of St. Augustine history by joining the National Park Service for an evening program celebrating Women's History Month. Join a park ranger for a guided, candlelight tour of the Castillo during which you will meet women from various eras of St. Augustine's past and learn about the city's long history. Tours depart from the ticket booth at 6:45, 7:00, 7:15, 7:30, 7:45 and 8 p.m. Tour tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis and may be purchased at the ticket booth or by calling 904-829-6506, ext. 232. Tickets are $8 for age 16 and up; $4 per child ages 5-15; and free for those under age 5. 1 South Castillo Dr., St. Augustine.
