Historic Weapons Demostrations at Castillo De San Marcos

Rangers and volunteers demonstrate the weapons and relate the experiences of the colonial Spanish soldier of 1740s St. Augustine.

These demonstrations are weekly on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays on the North-East gun deck. They are at 10:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 1:30 PM, 2:30 PM, 3:30 PM. Firing times are subject to change depending on weather conditions and staff availability.

Normal entrance fees apply. The Castillo de San Marcos is considered to be a "walk-in" park; the entrance fee applies to each individual.

Adults (Age 16 and above) -- $7.00 - valid for 7 consecutive days.
Children (age 15 and under) -- free, but must be accompanied by an adult.

The Golden Access and Age Passports; the Castillo Annual Pass; and the Interagency Access, Annual, Military, and Senior Passes are honored for free admission in accordance with the terms specified on the card.

Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays Historic Weapons Demonstrations

National Parks Service personnel demonstrate the weapons and relate the experiences of the Colonial Spanish soldier stationed in St. Augustine in 1740's. Demonstration times are 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. and at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. throughout the year. Firing times are subject to change depending on weather conditions and staff availability. The Castillo de San Marcos, the oldest masonry fortification in the U.S., was built by the Spanish in 1672 to help protect their empire in the New World. Admission is $7 for adults. Children 15 and under are free. The Castillo is open 8:45 a.m. - 5:15 p.m. daily. Info: www.nps.gov/casa.

St. Augustine Distillery

The new St. Augustine Distillery opened its doors to the public for the first time this month. The beautiful new distillery is located in the historic power and ice plant built in stages between 1905 and 1927. The distillery will offer free tours and tastings from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday and 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Sunday. The grand opening includes the release of the first spirit legally produced in Northeast Florida since prohibition. Mondays & Fridays Lost Ships Tour at the St. Augustine Lighthouse

This exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour includes a multi-media presentation with one of the Lighthouse's marine archaeologists. Tour participants visit areas of the Historic Light Station that are off-limits for general admission visitors. Participants will also see recovered artifacts that are undergoing tedious cleaning and stabilization procedures undertaken by conservators. Free time will be available to see museum exhibits in the historic Keeper's House and to also climb the 165' lighthouse. The lighthouse is located at 81 Lighthouse Avenue in St. Augustine. Wednesday Market at St. Augustine Beach

Motherhood Out Loud

Motherhood Out Loud is a fun, unpredictable play about the reality that comes with parenting. The show attempts to tell the audience what to "expect" when you're "expecting." The show has been produced at many theaters across the United States, and is soon coming to St. Augustine's own Limelight Theatre.

The Limelight Theatre is a volunteer based community theatre. Open year round, the theatre has been entertaining St. Augustine for over 20 years. 7 mainstage dramas, comedies, and musicals are featured each year putting together an exciting, moving season. The Limelight theatre is located at 11 Old Mission Avenue. The show will take place in the Matuza Main Stage.

Admission: General Admission is $25, Seniors (62+) $22, Military $20, Students $20, Student Rush $10. On Terrific Tuesdays tickets will be 2 for $25. Tickets can also be booked through our Limelight Theatre Package. Call the inn directly for details. Must have advance notice.

From August 12, 2014 - August 31, 2014. Tuesday, Thursday - Saturday performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday performances will be at 2 p.m.

First Friday Art Walk

The first Friday of each month, St. Augustine becomes a colorful festival of art and revelry. Whether you're a serious collector or a casual browser, gallery owners welcome you to stroll the city's brick-lined streets. Enjoy live entertainment while popping in to peruse everything from fine art photography to funky gifts and unique finds.

More than 20 galleries open their doors from 5 to 9 p.m. and serve up special refreshments along with a diversity of objets des artes to view or purchase.

There are gallery openings and artist receptions... and it's all free. Even parking is gratis at the San Sebastian Winery on King Street. Rather not walk? Take a free ride for the tour, compliments of Old Town Trolley Tours of St. Augustine.

St. Augustine has four thriving art districts. Maps for the self-guided tours are available at participating galleries or can be downloaded from www.artgalleriesofstaugustine.org.
