Enjoy St Augustine With a Race and a Taste After Easter

Everyone likes to eat and especially in St. Augustine!

raceWhat most of our guests rave about when staying with us (because we always inquire) is the amazing beauty of our historic buildings and walkable streets and you guessed it – the food! Everyone will agree that we  are not lacking in that area! We have some of the best restaurants in the U.S.A.  from casual fine dining to the quiet sidewalk cafe, we have it all! It is hard to make it to all of them in one visit that’s for sure, so this idea just might appeal to you!

At a familiar spot – the St Augustine Amphitheatre, Race to the Taste is an event you definitely don’t want to miss this year!

Why not run or walk off some energy over on our beautiful Anastasia Island in the morning and then refuel right after with a taste of the best?

The Taste of St. Augustine event we are proud to feature here highlights the culinary heritage and culture of our town by showcasing new restaurants and established favorites of all kinds!

It is at this event where you will sample our local cuisine and learn about our area’s food culture and oh yeah, have a ton of fun doing it!

When you first arrive at the Taste event just after burning off some morning energy (stay tuned), you will be greeted with the sights, sounds and delectable aromas from an eclectic mix of St. Augustine restaurants – from the casual to the upscale. As you pay your $5 admission (children admitted free and free parking), you will receive a map which indicates the participating restaurants, their location at the Taste and the dishes they are serving. This will allow you to plan for your culinary exploration!

Prior to “The Taste” the St Augustine Amphitheatre hosts an annual 5K race called, “Race to the Taste!” This race is a run/walk event meant for everyone from marathon runners or those just looking to get out for some exercise and fresh island air! The event starts at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre and runs through beautiful Anastasia State Park.

It is encouraged to purchase tickets in advance for entry into the 5K as it is one of the most popular of the year!

Again, Race to the Taste 5K is an annual fundraising event open to runners of all experience levels.

The annual Race to the Taste 5K Run and Walk will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2017, beginning at 10:30 a.m. The run is called Race to the Taste because it is part of the annual A Taste of St. Augustine event at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre. Runners are encouraged to dress up to the race’s rock ‘n’ roll theme.

Sponsored by EPIC Behavioral Healthcare, this is the only 5K connected to the famous food festival.

Beginning at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, the in and out course goes through Anastasia State Park and the shaded neighborhoods of Anastasia Island, ending back at the grounds of the Amphitheatre, where A Taste of St. Augustine will be in full swing.

Participants in the race (both runners and walkers) receive free admission for two to the tasting event and festival!
