Halloween is here and that means not only spirits will lurk the streets and ghost tours will be packed, but something even bigger is on the rise! If you've visited St Augustine before, you know that it is one of the MOST magical places to spend the holidays! Our holiday light presentation has been noted as one of the “Top Ten in the Entire World” by National Geographic and just about everybody with writing skills has blogged about it! That’s right – the weekend before Thanksgiving over a million tiny white lights will sparkle throughout the town! The downtown square will be hopping with holiday cheer; our beautiful buildings will be decorated to the hilt, and everything in between! Contests are actually put on by local businesses awarding for the best-decorated places!
The inns are also quite charming I will add and will follow their own theme of décor preceding the Annual Bed and Breakfast Holiday Tour we talk about so much on the second weekend of December! The city’s Annual Holiday Event List is packed with special things each and every weekend! Even the boats are decorated for the Annual Holiday Regatta that very weekend!
What comes with these magical times… ahh the smell of fresh-baked holiday cooking! We have something special for you this year in store! Lestari – our amazing chef is working hard in the test kitchen to come up with so many new and exciting things for our guests this holiday season! Just to give you a little sneak peak; these are going to include a warm holiday blueberry soup, extra special holiday punches, and many fresh-baked cookies are on the up and coming!
A recommended tour to take the season is the Holly Jolly Christmas Trolley. This tour has been around for years in the past for Nights of Lights but this year, they are making it extra special with additional stops at the Colonial Quarter where you will be stepping back into time to St Augustine Christmas of the Past. Roasted marshmallows, hot cocoa/cider, and more homemade cookies can be found here. The Colonial Quarter is just outside our front door and has done so many amazing things this year with their renovations and inclusions of three centuries of history! They are going to make it extra special for the holidays and we are excited! In addition to that stop, this is one ride you don’t want to miss! Carols can be sung along the way and don’t forget those 3-D glasses that have become a novelty here to view all the millions of beautiful lights!
Is all this enough to entice the Christmas lover in you? If so, do not forget that it is one of St Augustine’s and the Agustin Inn’s busiest times of the year. Rooms will not last long. People book a year in advance sometimes to secure their room for the season! Call us now and/or check our availability online! We want you here with us right in the heart of all the holiday fun!
