Each year on the second weekend in December The St. Augustine Historic Inns Association (SAHI) invites you to experience the Annual Bed and Breakfast Holiday Tour where visitors are able to tour all 24 unique inns in two days. Each year representing a different theme, the tour is gains more popularity among its guests each year. This year’s theme “Christmas Around the World” will feature twelve inns on Saturday, December 14th and twelve more on December the 15th with creative decorations and scenes based on culture, history, or holiday traditions of places around the world! Some of the creativeness is sure to surprise you!
In addition to the decorations, each inn is paired with a distinguished St. Augustine restaurant or other culinary partner offering savory nibbles, sweet treats and other refreshments. The self-guided tour is easily navigated on foot, but a special tour shuttle from Old Town Trolley will offer transportation along the tour route.
Each year a different charity is chosen for partial proceeds of this famous event. Last year St Augustine Bed and Breakfast Inns assisted with Fresh Starts Culinary Arts Program for the Homeless.
This four-week program is designed to provide residents of the St. Francis House with relevant training and certifications that will make them immediately employable in the third fastest growing occupation in Florida – foodservice occupations. Enrolled students will train in St. Francis House’s kitchen, through a mix of hands-on and classroom instruction, provided by First Coast Technical College Chef Instructor Phil Brown, recently said: "This is a motivated, dedicated group of students and I know they will set the bar high for future Fresh Starts classes” when speaking about the program and current enrollees. SAHI's $5,000 donation came from proceeds of its 2012 Bed & Breakfast Holiday Tour, which was themed “The Twelve Days of Christmas”.
