Agustin Inn Welcomes Guests Traveling in Time Machine

DeLoreanHere at the Agustin Inn – we are what some call the most conveniently-located St Augustine Bed and Breakfast in the area. Others know us as one of the best kept secrets for a romantic and fun getaway in the nation’s oldest city!

We have been accommodating guests here for many years and enjoy seeing pictures and postings regarding guests’ stays and even love to hear how were doing from time to time! One thing we pride ourselves in is friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere for conversation.

Thinking back to last year’s Fall conversations right around October, “Back to the Future” comes to mind. Suddenly during this time we found ourselves immersed with the iconic movie and many even went back to re-watch it for old times sake when the theaters showcased a special event!

The nation (including our little old city) was abuzz with excitement about what took the name “Marty McFly Day” — October 21, 2015, the date on which Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) and Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown (Christopher Lloyd) arrive to the future in the second installment of the iconic Back to the Future trilogy. The films accurately predicted some elements of life in 2015, though fully functional hoverboards (not the ones with the wheels we see today) and robot servers remain the stuff of science fiction.

One thing we all remember well from that iconic movie trilogy was the amazing time machine! This car is actually parked in a few garages today.  Nobody would believe it though until they’ve seen one with their own eyes and at the Agustin Inn of all places, we’ve done just that and have the photo to prove it!

The photo above we recently received from our special guests, Brandon & Laura Shelton who visited us on the 20th and possesses their very own DeLorean; otherwise known as a personal time machine!

Without a doubt, one of Back to the Future’s unsung heroes is this DeLorean time machine. Built over the course of nearly thirty years and using his entire family fortune in order to fulfill his vision of the “Flux Capacitor”, Doc Brown selected the DeLorean DMC-12 as his vehicle of choice for traveling through time.

The DeLorean DMC-12 was the brainchild of automotive engineer John Z. DeLorean, a former executive at General Motors who’s most notable contribution was the Pontiac GTO. He founded the DeLorean Motor Company in 1974. The story continues through the company’s bankruptcy in 1982 when the factories closed, but wait – there’s more!

Even after the company’s closure, vast quantities of brand new parts were still available and sitting in storage. The new privately-held DeLorean Motor Company (Texas) was established in 1995 and acquired the remaining warehouse of new-old-stock parts which they use to service and restore the 6,000 remaining DeLoreans still on the road today. The DeLorean Motor Company has facilities located across the United States and Europe.
